Bridal Shower Tips

Co-ed showers are finally taking a twist and growing every day more popular. Having a co-ed shower will make everyone attending feel more welcome and will also give them a chance to get to know one another before the big day. Give your bridal party a day to remember you by. Take them to the beach or have a barbecue but just make sure your guests are entertained and enjoying them selves.

If you are having a co-ed or more traditional bridal shower it will be so much more fun when you play games or make it theme night. If you love the beach have a pool party, if you love barbecue then cookout or if you enjoy crafts then make a special project, but just make it fun and enjoyable for all your guests and make the memories last.

Make sure they can dance. So I suggest either renting video lessons or hiring a personal dancing instructor. Pick some fun dancing and also some formal dancing lessons so you have dances for all of your music. If your reception party has a country theme, then make sure you take country dancing lessons. When the spotlight is on you and your bridal party it will be so much more fun for everyone when you know what your doing.

The bridal shower is the time when all of the bride's friends all get together and everyone meet one another. All of the bride's friends should bring something that they remember her by. They can bring friendship bracelets, class rings and photos. This will really make the shower more enjoyable and gives everyone a chance to share there memories of each other.

The HD Media Future

The HD Media future

Everyone knows that media format wars have historical significance in the world of technology. Remember the most notorious battle between the Beta max and the VHS? The winner of such battles will make millions even billions. Later we had the upgrade of tape to CD, a revolution in music. In 1980 the Philips/Sony compact disc standard was finalized and nobody has looked back for the last 26 years (until mp3's came along).

Well as ever there is a new media battle but who will win again is yet unknown. This modern forest of technological mass has produced a new insurgency: THE HIGH DEFINITION WAR. Blu-ray vs HD-DVD are two competing formats which are eventually going to replace DVD's. As you look around at your local electric retailers you can see changes happening in the broadcast world, not only are we changing from our conventional CRT screens to Flat screen but also to HD ready TV. The impact this has on our lives is not as large as black and white to colour, but nevertheless a change that will definitely be a benchmark for future media.

Why New formats?

The reason we have introduced these new formats is that your traditional DVD can hold a maximum of 9.4 GB (Dual Layer) of information. This is not enough for HD broadcast as the information required is higher, being a resolution of 1920x1080. Blu-ray discs can hold 50 GB (Dual Layer) and HD-DVD 30 GB (Dual Layer).

These new discs cannot be played on normal DVD players but on new HD media players of which examples are Samsung BDP 1000 (Blu-Ray), Sony Playstation 3 (Blu-Ray), Toshiba HDXA1 (HD-DVD). This means spending more money for better resolution.

Price

This is always important especially when new models of media come out; at first it is always expensive as supply out strips demand. The players are expensive, the cheapest being the Playstation 3 supposedly retailing at 549. Blu-Ray media also being expensive; similar to DVD's when they first came out (taking inflation into consideration), blank media costing from 11.99 to 24.99.

To play a Blu-ray Disc on a PC has brought about a price concern. The fact that you have to purchase a HDCP (High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection) Graphic card, along with a HD monitor, not to mention a Blu-ray Drive and media, controversially may bring about decrease in sales. This is presently being contested with new Laptops and PCs that are Blu-ray compatible, look at the New Vaio VGN-AR21S.

The HD players need to be up to scratch on price. The Toshiba HD-DVD player retailing at almost half the price of the Blu-ray Samsung player creates even more competition between the two media. This could encourage sales of HD-DVD over Blu-ray, even though it's rumoured that Toshiba will be making a loss initially.

Prices of movies doesn't seem to be as high as anticipated; a Blu-ray movie 'House of flying daggers' from amazon.com will set you back $19.95 (10.68). This may encourage sales. Movies in HD-DVD identical in price, yet Blu-ray is a larger size disc.

Upscaling

Another problem HD may face is that the new DVD players have the upscaling technology ie. DVD is played at 480p but upscalers upgrade the image to 720p or 1080i. This produces a picture which is of high quality to the untrained eye, in fact even the trained eye has difficulty distinguishing between the two. The difference is seen on a 50 inch HD projector and looking right up close. So the question is will 1080p be much different to 1080i? Will people fork out the added expense when they know that a cheaper DVD upscaler will create more or less the same effect?

Media Backup

Software and Hardware companies have invested a lot of money in subsidising HD media. Samsung, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, LG, Sony, TDK, JVC and Sharp support Blu-ray and Toshiba and Microsoft back HD-DVD. Hollywood movie studios Disney, Paramount, Warner, Sony, Eagle rock, Fox and MGM and Lions gate support Blu-ray also. None of these large companies would take such a gamble if they didn't know that this is what the consumer wants.

PlayStation 3

Sony love to bring out their own media whether its Sony Duo Sticks or Sony Mini Discs. Their hunger to dominate the consumer market has always been there and this is nothing different. The Playstation 3 will play Blu-Ray discs, still having the ability to play older media like DVDs and CDs. The success of the predecessor's PS1 and PS2 will give much anticipation to the release of this new console and is what Sony are hoping will convert people to use Blu-Ray. A Sony spokesman has predicted that Blu-Ray will dominate the HD market within 12 months.

The encouraging feature with HD-DVD is the name, everyone's ears will ring with the name and automatically assume that this is a high definition movie. Asking someone in the street what 'Blu-ray' is will bring looks of confusion, along with the fact that both will produce similar quality pictures.

Region Coding

Region coding with Blu-Ray may put people off; the fact that you may not be able to watch a new release from the states or Japan on your European locked regional player will raise eyebrows.

REGION 1 South America, North America, East Asia (except China)
REGION 2 Europe and Africa
REGION 3 China, Russia other Countries

Multiregional configurations on DVD players has encouraged sales worldwide especially with worldwide films from Bollywood, Japan (manga) and South America.

So far the HD-DVD camp has not announced region coding just yet, and if they don't then this will be very advantageous for consumers.

Future Proof

Realistically you only need about 15-20 GB for a feature length film in High definition but who would have known that DVD's could not be able to hold enough for high definition. Theoretically they can with MPEG-4 Compression. In any case media like Blu-ray will hopefully be future proof in years to come.

Conclusion

The timescale and price are the two main issues here, how quick we will universally change to HD and whether this is affordable. From a consumer point of view the necessity for HD doesn't seem imperative, after all VHS was around for 20 odd years twice that of DVD (so far). You could argue that technology is changing exponentially and that changes occur quicker.

As for the battle between the two media there may be compromise ahead. A UK firm has announced a solution to the media war. London-based New Medium Enterprises (NME) has developed a low-cost, multilayer DVD disc that can store Blu-ray content on one layer and HD DVD content on another. This would leave the consumer with the choice of buying either type of player to play the one disc.

The key setback I feel with the looming HD change is the cheaper alternative to a Blu-Ray player or HD-DVD player, the DVD upscaler. Do people want to get rid of those hundreds of DVDs they bought to replace them with an expensive alternative, especially when they might not even notice the difference in picture quality?

However I do feel that HD is encouraged with consoles such as the Playstation 3. Blu-ray is its main format and may revolutionise the games industry.

Fitting Child Care Into Your Child's Life

Modern American society is built on the concept of a two-income household. However, single parents also comprise a high percentage of our households. This means there are large numbers of parents in the workforce so childcare has become an important concern for many. A parent wants the best possible care for their child. As there is great variation in the quality of care offered by daycare centers, how does a parent or guardian determine which childcare facility is sufficiently skilled to care for their child?

It takes time and effort to find the right care for your child, but it will be worth it. Decide at the outset, that you will not give in to the pressure for a quick decision. Your child needs you to make wise choices for him. Take time to look at each alternative from your own perspective and dont presume they are all the same therefore the one your friend or colleague takes her child to will work for your family. Preschool, day care centers, care in anothers home or care in your own home are among your choices. Using a state licensed care provider will give a minimum standard of health and safety protection.

Getting a list of reputable child care providers is your first action. This can be from a local non profit organization, or you will find them listed in the phone book or internet. Letting your fingers do the walking, followed by a telephone conversation is not sufficient for success: you must make time to visit the facility and talk to those who will provide the care get the feel of the place! And ask lots of questions.

A big indication that a daycare center is child oriented rather than profit oriented is to ask the adult staff to child ratio. This ratio should be different for each age group and the recommended ratios are as follows: 1:4 for babies; 1:6 for under 3s; 1:10 for the 3-5 age group. (Check your States laws as they can vary.) Think about the effect these ratios will have on your childs individual need for attention and socialization. Just imagine how much chaos could result if your 3-year-old was one of 30 with only three adults in the room!

The care-giver should happily supply evidence of her background, training and experience, along with any licenses, accreditation or additional training undertaken. As well as State licensing, there are various national bodies offering accreditations indicating quality and safety measures are in place and open to inspection. Always take a note of and follow up any references offered.

The faithfulness of a parents love and care for a child is a big, big part of his security. If you cannot be home with him, then do not be afraid to allow him to attach himself to someone you trust. He will not love you any less for it, but will be strengthened by the secure environment you are creating for him. A secure, consistent environment is one of the biggest gifts you can give your child; therefore do not accept a care center with a high turnover of staff.

Here are a few other factors to think about: is the care giver positive, warm and understanding towards the children; will your child get individual attention and comfort when needed; can you drop in at any time; is it on the way to work or will you have to budget extra for travel costs; is its reputation solid no habit of breaking rules or list of complaints against it.

These are only some things to look for. There are many useful internet sites from government to child safety sites that will give you more information should you need it. Try http://www.childcareaware.org/en/ I wish you the peace that comes with finding the best care for your child. May God bless you in your search.

Ipod As The Most Popular Mp3 Mp4 player

This is an mp3 / mp4 player that music lovers acknowledge the most in the modern time. US-based Apple, one among the largest producers of computers, notebooks and computer hardware and software, introduced iPod in 2001 with a single model for the international music market. Apple kept on introducing new iPods for each generation. The latest one is the iPod 5G. Apple also came up with two different variants: the iPod Shuffle (without digital display), the iPod Nano (the smaller version of iPod). Recently, Apple came up with the new-generation of iPod, the iPhone that integrates the conventional MP3 and video player with an internet ready mobile phone.

This article compares each iPod by its special features. One of the most popular model is the iPod 5G that comes with 30 or 80 GB storage capacity. It is not just an mp3 / mp4 player, you can store, view and share complete music videos, movies, podcasts, play games, share photos, playback music and videos, connect to a video output device, and much more. It can play your favorite music for up to 20 hours as this iPod boasts of higher battery life.

The iPod Nano has many of the same features as the full-size iPod, but with much lesser storage capacity. It comes in 2 GB, 4 GB and 8 GB models. It has up to 24 hours of battery life and is comparatively lighter and smaller. It also suffers from some limitations; the iPod Nano doesn't support voice recording and media storage via third-party peripherals. iPod Nano is a great mp3 player for people who would just like to listen to audio files.

Apple's most-pocket friendly iPod is iPod Shuffle. It offers a host of advantages: it's affordable for everyone; its sound quality is as good as that of any other iPod; it has flash memory rather than a hard drive; and it's really portable. However, the disadvantage is that it doesn't include a screen for steering up to specific songs. It has a limited storage capacity, 512 MB to maximum 1 GB. So it's good for those who want to be in fashion, yet can compromise on memory space. But the size of this mp3 player is so small that you can easily clip it to your clothes.

With digital music being in-vogue, many portable jukeboxes hit the market, since Apple kick-started the music revolution of our time. Other portable MP3 and MP4 players, besides iPod, are available in the entertainment world of mp3 / mp4 players. There are many Chinese, Korean and Japanese brands manufacturing low cost players in bulk. These are much cheaper, but have their own set of advantages and disadvantages. The fact remains that iPods are the most popular among all, and hold the biggest share of this market. There are enough iPod users in the market and a lot of new things are getting developed around iPods.

Some people just can't do without their iPods, from jogging time to bed time. It sticks to their ears. Obviously, the battery drains out of the device. The latest buzz is that Andrew Schneider, a student from New York University, is exploring a solar-powered bikini that can charge iPods. Yes, it is true! The bikini will soak up the sun rays thru photovoltaic film strips. That means, while the iPod user is getting a sun tan, his mp3 / mp4 player is also getting a charge of 6.5 volts of solar power.

iPod has become a very desired mp3 / mp4 player around the world. iPod player just seems to be ahead of its competitors. Not just by delivering good quality products, but also in providing new solutions for eager electronic consumers. Lets just wait what will be next in the iPod revolution.

A new web service called Squirl (http://squirl.info) makes organizing your collection easy and fun. It's free up to 200 items (and only $10/year for up to 5,000 items, with an unlimited plan coming soon) and all of your data is stored online so you can access it from anywhere!

Signing up for Squirl is free and only takes a minute. You'll need to provide an email address, login name, and password of your choice. You'll get a confirmation email from Squirl with a link to click on to verify your registration.

Once you've verified, you're ready to start posting your collection on the site. The site will prompt you to create your first collection and give it a name (e.g. "My Superman Action Figures"). At this stage, you have a few configuration choices to make. Within the "Create New Collection" menu, you can choose whether you want your collection to be private or public. If it's private, only you can see it. If it's public, anyone can see it. You can also configure settings such as whether or not you want people to be able to leave comments on your collection. Other settings let you choose how you want your collection to be displayed on the screen. All of these settings can be changed after you create your collection in case you change your mind about anything.

Now that you've created your collection, it's time to start adding to it! There are over thirty customized templates you can use for entering different types of collectibles on Squirl. These templates include Antiques, Books, Coins, Diecast Toys, Dolls, Ephemera, and many other common collectibles. If you don't see the category that's right for you, you can enter your items as "Things" and send the site owners a request for a new category. For books, movies, music, and video games, you can import items from Amazon, which makes adding to your collection very quick and easy. For each item you add to your collection, you can upload a picture and add a description. For large collections, you might want to consider Squirl's "batch upload" option, which lets you upload five pictures at a time. Here's an example of what a collection looks like:

In addition to giving you a tool for organizing your collections online, Squirl lets you network with other collectors. You can browse through and comment on members' collections, send them messages, and add them as your friends. It's a great way to see what other people have and to exchange information about your collectibles. To personalize your homepage and let other Squirl users know more about you, edit your profile using the "My Profile" link on the top of each page. In your profile, you can provide a picture and description of yourself. There's also a place to put a link to your website where you could link to your current eBay auctions, and you can include links to eBay in the description of any item on Squirl. So it's a great way to let people know what you currently have for sale on eBay.

All in all, Squirl is a great way to catalog and organize your collection. And the social aspects of the site give you the added bonus of being able to connect with other collectors around the world! Check it out at http://squirl.info.

Educate Children the "Fun Way" with Inquisitive Teacher Supplies

Teaching children can be difficult if no one is having fun. Both the teacher and children can be miserable. That's why so many teacher supply stores have opened on the Web in recent years. Many teachers have discovered that adding a few inquisitive (and fun) educational supplies to their classrooms brings better learning and a happier atmosphere for years and years. You can make learning fun for your students and improve morale for an entire classroom using just a few of these.

Success Training that's not "Boring"

Find teacher supplies that bring learning to life. What's better - reading from pages in a book or seeing the real thing? Children today are programmed to learn from what they see and hear. They watch television and videos, they play video games, use computers, etc. All these activities focus on seeing and hearing - not reading. Sure, children must learn to read their school curriculum. But why not add some interesting visual objects to the classroom to enhance what they are learning.

Here are some examples:

*Spanish Class:

For an elementary Spanish class, give each child a Spanish beanbag. Have them read some Spanish text or memorize some words, and then allow them to shake the beanbag when they know the answer to a question. Another idea for this class is to teach them some songs in Spanish and let them make up simple skits using the Spanish language.

*Math Class:

If you teach an elementary Math class, use flash cards and have students compete to see who can tell the answer first. Students love games and competitions! You can also divide them into teams and give the winning team a reward.

*History Class:

For older students, use study slides with important events to teach dates, places and names in history. These help to simplify the memorization process when many dates and events must be studied for a test.

*Algebra Class:

If you teach an algebra class, you understand that some kids love it, some hate it. There are great books for teachers and parents to show you how to help all students learn algebra. One example is the helpful book titled "Helping Students Understand Algebra Step by Step."

*English Class: For elementary English students that are just learning to read and write, use Phonics programs to boost learning. These have been proven by experts to work for years.

All these classroom supplies and learning materials can usually be found easily at an online teacher supply site. And, there are many other classroom supplies and teacher resources to aid you such as congrats stickers, charts and seals, crowns, reward ribbons, teacher's aid DVDs, posters, maps, games, projectors, classroom furniture, etc.

Helping Children Strive to do their Best

Using unique educational supplies, you can actually boost the morale of your students and create a great learning atmosphere. This helps you interact with students and get to know them one on one. You can help them achieve success in your class and many others to come. Use these products to create an environment where kids can excel. Set individual goals for each student on a weekly basis. Reward them for reaching their goals. If possible, have a set "game day" once a month where you and the students play a game just for fun. They will love you for it!

Students need to know that their achievements are getting noticed. Use teacher supplies such as stickers and achievement ribbons to show them how proud you are. If you have a student that doesn't want to participate, allow him/her to be the one in charge on the team occasionally. Remember, leaders want to do their best and they expect it of their teams as well!

These are just a few ideas to get you started with fun learning. You can find hundreds of teaching products and educational help aids at online teacher supply stores, and often at a great price.
